Ministers' Messages for November / December 2008

From Rev. Andy
Recently, our Center hosted a “Youth Church” training seminar presented by Rev. Toni Niemiec, from the Spokane, Washington Center. Cris Overacker, Melissa Brinar and myself attended (Nola Force and Stephanie Minderhaud were unable to attend).
We were asked to design a mission statement for our Sunday children and youth programs. The mission statement we designed was as follows: “Providing a safe, fun and loving center that accepts our individuality, explores our connection with the Divine and facilitates growth through and on our cosmic journey.”
Mission statements have become popular in the business and organizational world. Why?... because they provide a standard by which all that is done can be applied. The way it works is, whenever an individual considers doing anything or plotting any course, the mission statement is brought out and held as a backdrop for that course of action. And the question is asked…”does this fit what our ‘mission’ states?”
I think this is a great tool for us as individuals as well. Imagine living our daily life projecting our beliefs about our relationship with God and the world as a guiding light to whatever we’re doing.
IF...God is “abundance”
IF...God is “love”
IF...God is “joy”
IF...God is “eternal”…
then my job is to conduct myself accordingly…..
’cause I’m the embodiment of the Divine….right??
This truly puts the “power” in empowered”!!
Peace…..Joy…..Enlightenment…

From Rev. Dotty
Dear Ones,
We are about to enter the most sacred time of year, the time of Thanksgiving and the celebration of Light and Life. We find ourselves being swept up into the whirl of events and preparations. Busyness, fun and excitement abound.
One event that we have here at the Center, The Feast of Gratitude, allows me and you to, to sit down with your Spiritual family and share your thoughts around gratitude. Looking over the events of the past year is a wonderful exercise to see Spirit at work in our lives, to realize the many blessings we have received and the growth and understanding we have garnered in the process.
We see ourselves as a beacon of Light in our community. During this season of celebration of the Light of God shining within us and through us, let us take the time to be still and allow the
Light to grow even brighter so that our spiritual community emanates the real love that is the true meaning of Christmas.
May you and your families enjoy
and keep sacred these Holy Days.
Love to you all...Rev. Dotty
